Where are you from?
I grew up in Preston, Lancashire but my soul was always lost in my imagination. A huge wonderland. Filled with birds, butterflies and bumblebees frolicking in rainbow flower meadows

When did you start making art?
I have been creative since I was old enough to hold a pencil. Filling handmade sketchbooks with cartoons and characters.

After school I studied art at college, before, in a moment of madness, going to university to study fashion design.

Lost for many years I worked organizing creative workshops, then worked in several office roles, before setting up a business where I designed and produced needlework kits. I closed this business after my second daughter was born.

It wasn’t until my dad was ill that I returned to painting, initially working in sketchbooks so I could show him my work when I visited. He had always wanted and encouraged me to become an artist but it wasn’t until he was gone that I listened. Finally following my inner voice to find my way home.

What inspires you most?

Birds, birds, birds. I am drawn to our amazing feathered friends. Fascinated by the diversity of not just size, shape and colour but also how much character each and everyone has. I also love all the beautiful nature we have in this country. From little clumps of moss, dew glistening on spiders webs, textures of tree bark to rolling mountains, lush woodlands, sandy shorelines and clouds in the sky. I love watching flocks of birds, sleeping ducks, starlings fighting on the bird table, the stance of an angry robin or blackbird and the flight of geese. I am also inspired by old books, vintage images and textiles, poetry and the never ending colours all around us..

Where do you live now?
I now live in a small village, situated in an area of out outstanding natural beauty (AONB) on the north west coast of England.
